The Golden Girl Painting
Hidden behind the counter was a pile of things; a dirty yellow painting twinkled. This painting was on hold for a thrift shop collaborative fair. A week's wait and 35 dollars was its price.
On our early arrival, a crowd began to form. "Put your name on the list" was serious thrifting; we waited for our call. Fingers crossed when entering, we scoured the line and then the store. I spotted the yellow twinkle. Shelved behind a shoppable still-life. A bowl filled with various ornamental Fruit and a vase filled with fake flowers. I dismantled the still life to reach it. Surprisingly, still dirty despite its thrifting debut wait.
A light cleaning made it shine. The waiting and price are worth it. Radiating happiness of yellow-gold in ignorance of its tears. A mutual/content expression and permanent tears.
She is relatable.
Its signature was deemed fruitless; after multiple deciphering and searches. She remains a mystery.
The painting is a muse for my imagination. Who is she? What would she wear? I call her and the collection Golden Girl.
